I once had a dermoid cyst which is basically a random tumor (get your annual check out EVERY year people). It was scary big and required surgery. I learned that such cysts can even grow hair or teeth. Never did get a pathology report on whether mine had such features. I sure would like some healthy new teeth (in the proper orifice though).

So lots of people know that XYY chromosone is BAD, very bad and you end up most likely in jail. But I just found out this year that XXXX chromosone exists too and often creates learning disabilities.
the black bears in Yosemite and the extra large coyotes there are pretty much only interested in your food. They’re beautiful creatures and you best stay away…but one of the only animal fatalities involved a lovely mule deer and an overzealous bambi lover.
The goldfinches have reappeared at my backyard feeder to add their fabulous flitting plumage to my permanent residents (stellar jay/house sparrow/woodpecker/mourning dove/hummingbirds/purplefinch/chickadee). SO although it doesn’t feel like it as I sit here bundled in 3 layers of fleece, Spring must be coming very soon! The migration is coming through.
The red winged blackbirds are also setting up their mating perches and posts and calling out near the Lake where I run and the trail where I bike.
So as much as life sucks right now (3rd year of a senseless and criminal war),
Spring is neigh,
rebirth is imminent,
I need a vacation,
but for now I have my birds and my man and my plants.
And I ran wearing gloves and 4 tops in the freezing Saturday morn with friends, near the bayline of sparkling waters and a wall of wind that pushed us backwards. A mere 5K in a rather unimpressive 32 minutes-but it was fun and felt great to start brushing off some of my winter rustiness and weight.
Next race: Triathlon? Muddy Buddy? Bay to Breakers? Lake Tahoe Relay….?
